A cooking chat with Karen, an American expat in Mexico, who can put on her chef hat and cook up a storm anywhere on earth
Imagine being able to cook up a storm anywhere on earth. Enjoy my cooking chat with Karen, an American expat who has mastered the skill and art of cooking anywhere on Earth she goes. Karen is currently living in Mexico, with her husband and young son and is loving the local cuisine. Episode 30 of the Are we home yet? podcast has a part 1 and 2, wherein we talk about how food is love. It was a special interview for me and I hope that you enjoy it.
During my cooking chat with Karen we talked about these things, how food is love, and I cried. Living abroad as an expat for several years now, due to Covid, I haven’t had a home-cooked meal from my family, and I have felt that lack of love. Our cooking chat via our zoom call was an informal exchange of cooking information between two people which covered a wide range of topics, not just about ingredients, but also, the first bite that we take, what we serve family and friends, different meals enjoyed in various countries that Karen and her family have lived in and traveled to.
Karen shared her cooking experiences as a young girl, a wife and mom, and as a student in Sicily where she was invited into a farm-to-table cooking course. Whether you’re looking for cooking advice or just want to learn more about someone else’s culture and cuisine, a cooking chat can be a valuable source of information. The next time you’re at a party/event/meeting someone for the first time, try this out, engage in a cooking chat, you can learn about someone’s favorite food.
